Wilma Goodwin was presented with a Branch Award at the AGM in June.  Wilma taught children's and adult classes for the Branch for many years.

Wilma started her teaching journey in the mid-seventies gaining her Teacher's Certificate in 1977.  She taught children's classes in Prestwick for many years and also Beginners and General classes for adults.

Wilma retired from teaching in 2024 having taken classes in Forehill Primary, Ayr for 18 years.  She represented Ayr Branch dancing in teams for Festivals and demonstrations.

Ayr Branch Secretary, Mrs Wilma Brown, received a big surprise at the AGM on 2nd September 2021. 


Retiring Chairman, Mr Andrew McConnell, presented her with an award in recognition of the work she has done during lockdown to keep members engaged and interested in Branch activities. When people were first asked to stay at home Wilma decided to send a daily email to everyone with links to challenges, music, photographs, videos, dances and dance related information. 


She had anticipated sending the emails for about three weeks but eighteen months later is still going strong.


Although delighted to receive the award, Wilma is now working hard to get members back to meeting face to face again rather than communicating with them over the internet!
